President Bafel Jalal Talabani of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) met with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, in Baghdad.
During the meeting, Talabani lauded the United Nations for its positive role in Iraq’s political process and stressed the importance of expanding coordination to uphold stability in the country.
Discussions focused on the political situation, elections, and resolving salary issues for employees in the Kurdistan Region.
Talabani highlighted the PUK’s efforts to ensure fair elections that deepen democracy and bring stability.
He affirmed the PUK’s commitment to negotiating with Baghdad to address challenges and foster prosperity for the people.
