High-security committee to oversee Kurdistan elections

The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Interior Ministry has formed a high-security committee to oversee the elections for the Kurdistan Parliament’s sixth round of elections, which includes a member of the Iraqi Elections Commission.

Jumana Ghalay, the spokesperson for the Iraqi High Elections Commission of Iraq, said, according to a decision by the KRG Interior Ministry, the High Election Security Committee has been composed and includes Judge Amr Moussa Hosseini, a member of the Iraqi Election Commission.

Ghalay said the committee was in charge of maintaining the security of polling stations and warehouses and to protect voting equipment and supplies during their transportation.

The sixth round of parliamentary elections will be held on June 10 and will be supervised by the Iraqi High Election Commission.
