The US military carried out its fifth aid operation to Gaza this month, airdropping 41,000 meals in the territory.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) made the announcement, also noting they had dropped 23,000 bottles of water into north Gaza, “an area of great need allowing for civilian access to critical aid,” CENTCOM said.

Aid transported to Gaza by truck has dropped significantly over the past five months of war and residents of the territory are dealing with drastic shortages of food, water, and medicine.

Israel insists there is no limit to the amount of aid given and says shortages are due to aid agencies’ failure to deliver supplies.

The US conducted its first airdrop of food on March 2, giving more than 38,000 meals, followed by more than 36,000 on Tuesday, more than 38,000 on Thursday, and more than 11,500 on Friday.

US President Joe Biden said on Thursday the US military will set up a temporary port off the coast of Gaza to bring in more assistance.
