Trump’s return will not impact oil sales: Iranian oil minister

Iran's Oil Minister Javad Owji.

Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji said that Donald Trump’s come-back as the US president will not affect the Iranian oil sale.

“Trump will not affect oil sales, and even now, given the intensification of the sanctions, we have the highest oil sales record since 2017,” Javad Owji said.

Owji made the remarks during the signing ceremony of an agreement to increase pressure in the South Pars field in southern Iran, a contract he described as the most valuable in the country’s history.

He said that the contract is valued at $20 billion which ensures gas supply for the next 70 years, adding that it “could have been undertaken 8 years ago, but we chose not to rely on foreign companies.”

He said that out of the $20 billion investment, $900 billion could be earned.

Owji said that the economic growth of oil group products has reached 20%, which indicates that sanctions have not succeeded in curbing it, and also pointed out a 5% growth in Iran’s gas production, which exceeds the average of 2.5% seen in other countries.
