Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani said that the strategic agreement between Baghdad and Washington is separate from the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq.

Sudani confirmed that his country does not require the presence of foreign troops from 86 countries, indicating that the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq does not signify the termination of the strategic agreement.

He said that the negotiations between the US and Iraq will focus on military aspects without political interference, adding that they will be based on three conditions: evaluating the ISIS threat, reviewing security operations, and assessing the Iraqi forces’ capacity to counter threats.

He added that Iraq will establish a timetable for the withdrawal of US troops once all these assessments have been considered.
