Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reaffirmed his decision to leave Anfield at the end of the season, emphasizing that the return of Michael Edwards as Fenway Sports Group’s chief executive of football would not change his plans.

Speaking to reporters, Klopp made it clear that there would be no last-minute change of heart, even with Edwards back in the picture. The pair enjoyed a successful working relationship during Edwards’ tenure as the club’s sporting director before he departed in 2022.

Addressing the speculation about a possible U-turn, Klopp stated, “No, because he’s not dumb. That was not a subject to talk about. Can you imagine if I changed my mind now? Of course not.”

Despite aiming for success on multiple fronts this season, Klopp reiterated his focus on setting up the club for the future. Liverpool are currently competing in the Premier League title race, have an upcoming FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester United, and are well-placed in the Europa League.

“The club is in a really good place,” Klopp affirmed. “What’s important for the future is how good is the team, how good are the players, how good is the structure, how good is the organization? That’s where my optimism comes from.”
