Domenico Tedesco has signed a two-year extension to remain as Belgium’s coach until the 2026 World Cup and the team laid out a new kit that pays tribute to the country’s iconic comic book character Tintin.

Tedesco became the successor to Roberto Martinez after the 2022 World Cup and carried Belgium through an undefeated qualifying campaign for Euro 2024.

The contract was announced on Thursday at the Herge museum, named after Tintin’s creator. The kit will use colors inspired by Tintin’s outfit of a blue sweater, white collared shirt, brown pants, and white socks with brown shoes.

“As a big fan of Tintin, I’m delighted our Red Devils will go off to conquer Europe with a shirt inspired by one of the biggest Belgian heroes,” said Piet Vandendriessche, the chief executive of the Belgian football association.

The alternative strip will include a light blue shirt and white collar, brown shorts, and white socks, as opposed to the traditional red kit.

Belgium is set to play against Ireland and England in friendlies later in March.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is missing from the squad due to an injury.
