Bafel Talabani: This election will change the way of governance in the Kurdistan Region

The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Talabani, said in a meeting with the French consul-general on Saturday that the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan Region will be more democratic.

“This election will be different and more democratic and is an important beginning for a change in the way of governance in the Kurdistan Region,” he said.

Talabani met with French Consul General Yann Braem in Dabashan on Saturday, according to a statement issued following the meeting.

Talabani reaffirmed the commitment of the PUK to resolve issues and reach a positive outcome,” according to the statement.

“People’s lives and the stability of the country should not be mixed with political conflicts, everyone should be responsible for the lives and welfare of citizens, and efforts should be within the framework of achieving a more stable future, not deepening conflicts,” Talabani said.

“This election will be different and more democratic, and everyone will elect their true representative,” Talabani stated. “This is an important start to change the way of governance and strengthen the Kurdistan Region.”
