The Iranian Parliamentary Research Center said that there have been 4,500 floods in Iran over the past decade.

According to the Center’s statistics, approximately 28 percent of Iran’s territory is vulnerable to heavy floods.

The report further said that around 56 million people in Iran reside in areas prone to flooding, with approximately 15 million living in areas highly susceptible to heavy floods.

Iran ranks among the top 10 countries in the world with the highest frequency of natural disasters, particularly floods, recording 4,500 floods over the past decade.

The figures coincide with recent floods that hit 16 towns and 1,947 villages in Sistan and Baluchestan province two weeks ago, resulting in significant damage to residential areas and agricultural land.
