About 400 people rescued from floods, snow in Iran’s Urmia, Ilam provinces

In the past two days, Red Crescent teams have rescued about 400 people from floods and snow in Ilam and Urmia provinces of northwestern Iran. 

The Red Crescent Society of Ilam province said that heavy rains triggered floods in various parts of Ilam province over the past two days, resulting in damage to 63 houses, while 28 people were rescued.

Meanwhile, the Urmia Red Crescent Society said that heavy rains and fog covered the north of the province. 251 people were rescued, and eight vehicles were protected. 

The Urmia Red Crescent Society said it rescued 130 people trapped by heavy snowfall in various parts of the province. And they protected 26 vehicles and 21 passengers from the Chalderan-Khoyi road.

Heavy rains and snowfall have led to the closure of roads in several villages in both northern Urmia province and Ilam province.
