Turkey carries out 241 attacks on Kurdistan Region in 70 days: CPT

Turkey conducted 241 drone, warplane, and artillery attacks on the Kurdistan Region within the first 70 days of 2024, according to Kamaran Osman, from the Community Peacemaker Teams (CPT) in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Osman, the head of the Human Rights Desk at CPT, told Channel8 that from January 1 to March 10, 2024, Turkey conducted 201 airstrikes using warplanes on the Kurdistan Region, along with 28 artillery strikes and 12 drone attacks.

He said that four civilians were killed, and one was injured in the attacks, adding that three villages in Amedi town have already been evacuated, and there is a looming threat of evacuation for around 600 more villages.

According to Kamaran Osman, Turkey plans to launch an operation in the Kurdistan Region, putting the lives of 190 families in villages around Gara mountain at risk.
