Baghdad doubts 67,000 names in Kurdistan’s public employee list: MP

Soran Omer speaks to Channel8.

Soran Omer, a member of the Iraqi Parliament’s Finance Committee, said that there are doubts about 67,000 names in the Kurdistan Region’s list of public employees sent to Baghdad by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Finance, making them unverifiable.

Omer told Channel8 that despite issues in the salary list sent to Baghdad, the Iraqi Ministry of Finance has transferred the salaries of public employees, yet the KRG has not distributed them to the employees.

He said that the report, audited by the Financial Supervision Bureau of both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, revealed suspicious details and within the list forwarded to Baghdad for employee salaries, there are uncertainties regarding 67,000 names, where the absence of mothers’ names renders them unverifiable.

Although the Iraqi Ministry of Finance has requested information, it has yet to receive it, he added.

According to Soran Omer, among the 67,000 suspicious names, over 31,000 belong to the KRG Ministry of Higher Education, while the remainder are dispersed among other ministries.
