KRG PM Barzani thanks Kurds for ‘resistance’ at iftar meal

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani said he thanked the Kurdish people for their “resistance” and stated, “Their resistance has enabled us to continue to serve.”

Barzani said during a public iftar meal that various attempts have been made to not send the salaries of KRG employees and he stated the KRG was trying to reach an agreement that would be in the interest of both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

He said there were plans to eliminate or weaken the structure of the Kurdistan Region, adding the creation of the Region in its form was not for the benefit of anyone but was instead the product of the blood of the martyrs.

The prime minister stated the KRG has not hesitated in fulfilling its duties, including protecting the Kurdistan Region.

He called on all political parties to put aside their own personal interests. “We can make achievements and preserve brotherhood between us,” Barzani said. “We must unite on the basis of the interests of our country.”

“We always have many friends in our joyful times and in times of trouble and hardship we find ourselves very alone, only the Kurdish people are with us,” he stated.

Barzani said the KRG will have a meeting with the Council of Ministers the following day and he was certain everyone will have a part in the decision the KRG will make, “because it will be in the interest of the people.”
