The spokesman for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Saadi Ahmed Pira, told Channel8 the party is fully prepared for elections with the names of candidates and their list for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections ready to be submitted to the election commission on Thursday.
Parties in the Kurdistan Region have until 2 pm Thursday to submit their list of candidates to the electoral commission.
Pira said the PUK will submit its candidates at the appointed time on Thursday and complete the legal procedures ahead of election day.
Some parties have not yet submitted their candidates and are expected to hand in their lists and coalitions on Thursday.
According to a decree issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the parliamentary elections will be held on June 10, 2024, and the polls will be conducted by the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission.
