Two killed, dozens injured in election-related violence in North Kurdistan

Two people were killed and dozens of others injured in several areas of North Kurdistan during local elections.

One person was killed and five wounded in a clash between two groups in the village of Konacik in Siirt province.

The same day, 16 people were injured in clashes between groups in several towns of Sanliurfa province amid the elections.

A clash occurred between members of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the pro-Kurdish People’s Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) in Diyarbakir, where one person was killed. According to the DEM Party, members of the AKP attacked them.

Dogan Hatun, a mayoral candidate from the DEM Party, told Channel8 their members and supporters in Agaclidere district in Diyarbakir province were attacked. One of the party members was killed in the incident and several others were injured.

Eleven people were injured, two seriously, in fights related to the elections, according to reports.
