Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has drawn criticism for likening himself to South African anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela, a move that has been swiftly denounced by President Joe Biden’s campaign team.

Trump’s comparison comes amidst his ongoing legal battles, including allegations of paying hush money to a porn star and facing trial in multiple criminal cases.

Despite facing intense scrutiny, Trump remains defiant, asserting his right to free speech and drawing parallels between himself and both Mandela and Jesus Christ.

Biden’s campaign team condemned Trump’s comparison as a display of extreme self-centeredness, calling out his repeated attempts to equate himself with revered historical figures.
