Kurdistan, Iraq Presidents meet to strengthen relations and address key issues

President Nechirvan Barzani of the Kurdistan Region met with Dr. Abdul Latif Rashid, President of the Federal Republic of Iraq in Baghdad to discuss various important matters.

 The meeting focused on “the general situation in the country, the relationship between Erbil and Baghdad, the recent agreement on salaries for Kurdistan Region employees”, and efforts to address remaining unresolved issues in line with the constitution.

Both leaders emphasized the need for continuous dialogue to address outstanding matters while upholding the political agreement that formed the federal government.

They stressed the importance of ensuring financial entitlements for the Kurdistan Region and its employees, free from political disputes. Additionally, they highlighted the significance of cooperation among political forces to safeguard the country’s security and stability.

President Rashid expressed support for the federal government’s ministerial agenda and praised President Barzani’s efforts in addressing the salary matter and enhancing inter-party relationships.

President Barzani emphasized “the understanding and agreement reached between Erbil and Baghdad on the salary issue will positively impact the development of relations between the two sides. In this regard, he expressed his gratitude for the role and efforts of the Iraqi President in resolving these issues.”
