Iraqi Interior Ministry: Overall crime has decreased in 2024

The Iraqi Interior Ministry revealed during a press conference that the overall crime rate decreased in the first three months of 2024 compared to the same period last year.

Omid Miqdad Miri, the spokesman for the Interior Ministry, said on Sunday that in the first three months of 2024, cases of manslaughter decreased by 26 percent, cases of premeditated murder decreased by 19 percent, tribal conflict decreased by 77 percent, and cases of tribal murder decreased by 25 percent. However, the rate of suicide has increased by 2 percent.

The spokesman said cases of armed robbery have decreased by 73 percent and cases of theft decreased by 9 percent.

He said the total number of security incidents in Iraq has decreased by 5 percent compared to 2023.
