Travelers stuck at Iraq-Turkey border for three days

A number of travelers have been trapped at the Ibrahim Khalil border crossing between Iraq and Turkey for three days.

The travelers, some of whom were in poor health, spoke to border officials and were told that tourists have been prevented from entering the Khabur border at the Turkish side.

They said all of the restaurants were closed and they had nowhere to go or a place to lodge a complaint.

“We have the same problem and have been here for three days,” other travelers said. “It is raining and we have patients going to Turkey for treatment. Restaurants are closed.”

One traveler told Channel8 they are asking the Iraqi government to cancel flights to Turkey or to find another crossing because of frequent problems at the Ibrahim Khalil border, and amid the month of Ramadan, they are stuck at the border for three days.
