Iran’s President Raisi speaks with Iraqi counterpart on enhanced ties

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi spoke with his Iraqi counterpart Abdul Latif Rashid on Tuesday in a phone call on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) said.

Raisi said it was the responsibility of all Muslims and “freedom-seekers” to try to end the war in besieged Gaza, according to IRNA.

Rashid stated Baghdad is eager to enhance bilateral relations with Tehran despite efforts from some to disrupt relations between the neighboring countries, IRNA said.

For his part, Raisi emphasized the need to expand relations between Baghdad and Tehran.
