UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres conveyed his deep sadness on Tuesday over the plight of Muslims in Gaza, Sudan, and other conflict-affected regions who are unable to celebrate Eid al-Fitr due to conflict and hunger.

In his Eid message, Guterres expressed his annual wishes for the Muslim community worldwide, lamenting the reality that many are unable to observe the holiday properly due to ongoing conflicts and humanitarian crises.

Sudan has been devastated by clashes between the army and paramilitary forces, resulting in thousands of deaths and millions displaced, with a staggering number in need of humanitarian aid.

In Gaza, the situation is dire, with significant infrastructure damage and a large population forcibly displaced, leaving them vulnerable to disease and famine. The ongoing conflict has exacted a heavy toll on the lives and well-being of Palestinians.

Guterres’ heartfelt message underscores the urgent need for peace and stability in these regions to ensure that all communities can celebrate important religious observances without fear or deprivation.
