Ukraine reported an escalated aerial attack by Russia on Thursday, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stating that Moscow launched a substantial assault on various regions, including the northeastern city of Kharkiv and energy facilities across the country.

In recent weeks, Russia has conducted some of the most significant air campaigns on Ukraine since its invasion began over two years ago, focusing heavily on targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. This strategy, aimed at exploiting a country already fatigued by war, has been revived from the previous winter.

President Zelensky revealed that Russia deployed over 40 missiles and 40 drones in central, eastern, and western Ukraine, striking critical infrastructure sites. Although officials have not yet reported any casualties, Zelensky emphasized that Moscow’s attacks have included power stations and gas distribution centers.

The ongoing assault on Kharkiv was condemned by Zelensky as another “vile missile attack,” occurring a day after three individuals lost their lives in the already beleaguered northeastern city, which has been repeatedly bombarded by Russian forces in recent months.
