Rojava-Kurdistan Region border crossing to reopen

The Semalka border crossing, the only gate between Rojava and the Kurdistan Region, will reopen on Sunday after collapsing nearly a month ago due to flooding in the area.

A source from the border crossing said reconstruction of the Semalka bridge is nearly completed and it will be open to passengers.

The bridge collapsed and was completely closed on March 20 as a result of heavy rain and flooding, bringing traffic between the Kurdistan Region and Rojava to a halt.
