Deputy PM Talabani visits power plant in Kifri

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Qubad Talabani, visited the Hasira power plant in Kifri on Sunday.

His first priority in Garmian administration was to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of Anfal.

Talabani visited the martyrs’ monument in Debna village to lay a wreath on the monument.

Afterwards, Talabani, accompanied by the Minister of Electricity, Kamal Mohammed, and Deputy Minister Ahmad Mufti, visited the Hasira power plant, where they toured different parts of the project.

The deputy PM congratulated the station’s management staff for successfully implementing the project and asked them to work on expanding the project in the future.

He recalled the project was the implementation of one of his promises made in 2018 to the residents of Kifri to solve the problem of waste gas that harmed the environment of Garmian, and to build a power plant to produce electricity.

The Hasira power plant currently has a capacity of about 160 MW.
