Iraqi PM, Total Energies CEO discuss energy projects at World Economic Forum

Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman & CEO of Total Energies, convened in Riyadh during the World Economic Forum special meeting.

The focus of their discussions revolved around the advancement of Total Energies projects in Iraq, with a significant emphasis on associated gas, oil, and solar power initiatives.

Pouyanné elaborated on Total Energies’ strategic goals, expressing the company’s intent to finalize the initial phase of the solar power project and the associated gas project within the upcoming year.

The target set is to achieve a production capacity of 50 million cubic feet, aligning with the overarching goal of reaching 300 million cubic feet.

In addition to these projects, the dialogue encompassed the prospective utilization of water sourced from desalination projects in Basra to support Total Energies’ oil ventures in the region.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani reiterated the unwavering support of the Iraqi government for Total Energies, underscoring ongoing initiatives to bolster the investment climate through conducive policies and legislation.
