Some Kurdish factions in Iraqi parliament reject postponement “efforts” of KRI elections

Several Kurdish factions in the Iraqi parliament have united in opposition to the delay of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) parliamentary elections.

In a collective statement, the PUK, Kurdistan Islamic Union, Kurdistan Justice Group, and New Generation party factions express strong disapproval of any efforts to push back the elections, highlighting that the Kurdistan parliamentary elections have already been postponed thrice at the behest of a specific faction.

Furthermore, the statement explicitly denounces the abuse of security and military power by any political party to distort reality, go against the law, or challenge established decisions.

It calls upon the federal authorities within the Council of Representatives, the Council of Ministers, the Federal Court, and the Independent High Election Commission to resist such maneuvers and ensure the scheduled holding of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections on June 10th of this year.
