A tragic incident unfolded at the Khas drinking water project in Qaladze, where a police officer lost his life and another was injured in a chlorine leak, as reported by Raperin police.

Authorities identified the deceased officer as Abdullah Babakr Ali, born in 1971 from Begalas village. The police released a statement confirming the officer’s death this morning due to a chlorine tank leak.

Meanwhile, the injured officer, Farhad Azad Abdullah, was promptly transported to Qaladze hospital for medical care and is currently under observation.

Chlorine exposure can have devastating effects on the body, causing severe burns in the airway or gastrointestinal tract leading to tissue death.

Ingestion of the substance can result in long-term consequences such as infection, shock, and even death months after exposure. Those affected may experience complications in breathing, swallowing, and digestion due to scar tissue formation in the affected areas.
