US Senate delegation, KRI resident to discuss strengthening US relations

President Nechirvan Barzani recently hosted a delegation from the US Senate, including Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Senator Ted Budd (R-NC), to discuss the evolving relationship between the United States, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region.

The meeting focused on ongoing negotiations between Erbil and Baghdad, as well as the overall situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, the delegation reaffirmed the United States’ steadfast support for both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, highlighting the importance of their partnership with the Kurdistan Region.

They commended the Peshmerga forces for their crucial role in defeating ISIS and maintaining peace and stability in Iraq.

President Barzani expressed his appreciation to the US Senate and Congress for their consistent support of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

He emphasized the shared goal of both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to strengthen cooperation and enhance relations with the United States.

In addition to discussing these key issues, the meeting also touched on various other topics of mutual interest, with the participation of the US Ambassador to Iraq and the US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.
