Iranian, Kurdish Presidents emphasize strengthening relations in high-level meeting

In a high-level meeting held in Tehran, President Nechirvan Barzani of the Kurdistan Region and President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi underscored the significance of enhancing ties between their respective nations.

During the meeting, attended by vice presidents and the Interior Minister along with a delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government, both leaders highlighted the crucial role of advancing Iranian relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region based on good neighborly relations.

Iran’s President expressed gratitude to the Kurdistan Region for assisting Iranian pilgrims visiting holy sites in southern Iraq as they pass through the Kurdistan Region. President Barzani, in turn, thanked Iran for its support towards Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Both presidents emphasized mutual interests, boosting trade and economic ties, and commended their longstanding relationship.

Addressing the need for sustained coordination and cooperation, the two leaders emphasized the importance of joint efforts between Iran, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region to uphold peace and stability in the region.
