PUK’s Talabani stresses need for coalition forces

The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Jalal Talabani, emphasized the necessity of the presence of coalition forces in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Talabani stressed “the need to continued presence of coalition forces in a way that meets today’s requirements to maintain peace and supplement the existing security institutions in Iraq and KRI”, according to a statement from Talabani’s press office.

Talabani met with global leaders, politicians, diplomats, and military and security experts at the conference, where he emphasized that the fight against terrorist groups continues, particularly in light of the spillover effect of regional conflicts.

He also spoke on the “commitment to enhancing cooperation with the PUK’s partners” in the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government.

According to the PUK leader’s press office, he also touched on the need to assure the “integrity and success” of the upcoming elections in the Kurdistan Region.
