Qubad Talabani reassures investors of govt protection at chamber of commerce

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Qubad Talabani, reaffirmed his support of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce in a visit on Monday.

Talabani attended a meeting at the chamber of commerce where he congratulated its new president and members and said he hoped it would play an important role in the development of Sulaymaniyah, increasing the movement of trade and market recovery.

He received testimony from business professionals and investors on the difficulties they faced in the field. Talabani pointed out efforts to enforce the rule of law and assured them the KRG would not permit extortion or other attempts of harassment.

“Our strategy is to strengthen the private sector, so we will do our best to support businessmen and investors and the relevant government authorities have been instructed to facilitate all kinds of work in order to reduce routine,” he said.

Talabani called on the chamber of commerce to play a role in encouraging more investment in agriculture, industry and tourism to strengthen the economic infrastructure and the private sector.

He concluded the meeting by stating he expected further projects in different sectors to serve the city in 2024.
