Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani expressed his complete confidence in the capabilities and skills of women within the Peshmerga forces, urging them to strive for continuous improvement and advancement in their roles within the security forces.

During a visit to the Qalachwalan Military College on Sunday, Talabani met with female officers and students at the college.

Talabani praised the instructors and officers of the Qalachwalan Military College, highlighting the substantial number of graduates who go on to serve in key roles within Kurdistan and Iraq.

Qubad Talabani said that there was previously a belief impeding women’s involvement in such colleges, but emphasized that this belief has now diminished and should be entirely eradicated.

Meanwhile, he expressed his joy at the increasing participation of women in the courses at the Qalachwalan Military College, emphasizing their readiness to defend Kurdistan and its citizens alongside men.

“We have full confidence in the ability of women within the Peshmerga forces and other security forces.”

In 1997, the Kurdistan Female Peshmerga Force was established for the first time by Hero Ibrahim Ahmed, officially becoming a part of the KRG Ministry of Peshmerga in Sulaymaniyah.
