PM Mohammed Shia al-Sudani Forms New Political Alliance Ahead of National Elections in Iraq

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced on Tuesday the formation of a new, expanded electoral alliance named the "Reconstruction and Development Coalition", which will contest the upcoming legislative elections scheduled for November.

According to a statement from al-Sudani’s media office, the coalition brings together several national and political blocs, including the Euphrates Movement, led by al-Sudani himself.

"A group of Iraqi national forces and movements is honored to announce to all our Iraqi people the formation of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition to run in the legislative elections scheduled for next November," the statement read.

Karbala Innovation Alliance

Bilad Sumer Gathering

National Solutions Alliance

Ajyal (Generations) Gathering

Al-Sudani emphasized that the new alliance is centered on prioritizing Iraq’s national interests, aiming to sustain momentum in reconstruction efforts, boost the national economy, complete strategic infrastructure projects, and strengthen regional and international relations.

"We have placed the interests of Iraq and Iraqis first," he said. "Our goal is to sustain reconstruction, strengthen the national economy, complete infrastructure and strategic projects, and consolidate security, stability, and Iraq’s regional, Arab, and international ties."

He added that the coalition is founded on the achievements of the past two years, referencing the government's performance in public service delivery, economic development, and social welfare.

"The coalition builds on the significant strides achieved over the past two years, in light of the government's efforts in providing services, development, and creating opportunities, while taking into account the aspirations of citizens everywhere," al-Sudani stated.

The announcement marks the official entry of al-Sudani's political platform into the electoral arena, with a focus on continuity, governance, and development-led leadership.
