An AI-generated audio clip falsely portraying President Donald Trump shouting at officials to suppress the release of documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein has gone viral, according to researchers.

The synthetic recording, which spread rapidly across platforms like Instagram and TikTok, featured a Trump-like voice declaring: “Not releasing the Epstein files. If I go down, I will bring all of you down with me.”

Posts amplifying the clip racked up millions of views and thousands of comments, despite experts confirming it was fabricated. Disinformation watchdog NewsGuard labeled the audio “an AI-generated fake.”

Investigators traced the clip to a liberal TikTok account, noting it showed signs of being created with Sora, OpenAI’s text-to-video model. Later versions stripped away Sora’s watermark, effectively “obscuring its AI origins,” NewsGuard said.

The wave of falsehoods didn’t stop there. Liberal users also circulated a fabricated quote attributed to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, claiming she said Epstein emails referenced someone else named Trump. One viral post on X read: “It is not President Trump who is in the Epstein emails. It is another person with the same name.” That post alone drew more than four million views.

The White House quickly pushed back. Responding to a user who insisted Leavitt had made the remark, an official account fired back: “No … she didn’t. You are a weapons grade moron.”

The episode highlights how disinformation thrives across the political spectrum in a polarized environment. Viral fabrications, amplified by unmoderated social media platforms, continue to blur the line between fact and fiction for everyday users.

President Trump, meanwhile, has repeatedly maintained he has “nothing to do” with his former associate Epstein.
