The pause came after Iranian and Middle Eastern officials asked the U.S. to hold its fire. Trump said that they told Washington that negotiators had already ironed out the initial perimeters of a diplomatic deal.
According to Trump, the upcoming talks center on major concessions from Tehran. “This would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat,” he wrote.
The reversal marks a sudden pivot toward diplomacy. Trump stated that he agreed "to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL" to protect global stability and allow Iran to survive as a prosperous country.
Regional allies are reportedly on board with the pause. “The Country of Israel joins me in this commitment. Get to work, everybody, and get it DONE,” Trump added.
