Mahmoud Berxwedan, Senior SDF commander, said in an interview with Turkish newspaper Turkiye that the Syrian Democratic Forces will reportedly be dissolved in the coming days and integrated into a unified Syrian state and military.

He said the existing system of autonomous rule will come to an end as the forces transition into a single national framework.

According to Berxwedan, the SDF's actual active force numbers no more than 35,000 fighters. He said 12,000 members have already joined the Syrian Arab Army.

He described the theoretical merger of the YPG as complete, while saying outstanding issues remain concerning the YPJ and foreign members from Turkey and northern Kurdistan.

The integration process is expected to continue as preparations to dismantle the existing SDF structure accelerate.

Berxwedan said the SDF has never pursued the establishment of a separate state and will continue operating as an essential component of Syria's national military.

He said Kurdish integration should take place within a unified Syrian state rather than through a separate political or military structure.

The SDF commander said Damascus should draft a constitution based on inclusion and justice that guarantees rights for all communities.

He said such guarantees would also help create conditions for displaced people to return safely.

Berxwedan expressed support for peace initiatives associated with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Devlet Bahceli, describing the efforts as a patriotic step.

He also argued that denying the rights of Kurds would not resolve the region's ongoing problems.
