The caretaker Kurdistan Regional Government Minister of Education outlined preparations for the upcoming academic year, addressing teaching staff deployments, school infrastructure development, updated student uniforms and curriculum, winter fuel supplies, and the restructuring of school cafeteria revenues.

Speaking during a press conference on Monday, Minister Saeed said 32 new buildings for the educational process have all been prepared.

He noted that the 19-day institutional training process will require each teacher to complete five to six days of professional development covering technology, artificial intelligence, environmental strategy, and classroom management for "disruptive students."

Saeed highlighted that the design of student uniforms has been changed and its price is cheaper than in previous years, and no contract has been signed with any company to provide the uniforms.

He affirmed that students' parents are free to purchase them from any location.

The Minister of Education reaffirmed his confidence in the public school system, noting that strict administrative oversight resulted in the closure of one school last year due to negligence.

Additionally, the ministry enacted a policy mandating that all revenues generated from school cafeterias be reinvested directly into their respective facilities.

Regarding fuel, he pointed out that 8 million liters of oil were distributed to educational institutions last year.

In the press conference, the new first-grade and sixth-grade Kurdish textbooks were also unveiled, featuring the portraits of Murid and Adam, two children draped in the Kurdistan flag who went viral during the January demonstration for Rojava.

Ahead of the 2026–2027 academic year, the KRG Ministry of Education has launched a comprehensive structural and digital overhaul. This initiative primarily focuses on expanding physical infrastructure, digitizing teacher training frameworks, and standardizing the public curriculum. 

As part of this digital expansion, the ministry has integrated advanced technologies and artificial intelligence directly into the public school system.

Key developments include the full implementation of the “My School” (Qutabxanakam) flagship interactive learning platform, which was unveiled at the Fourth Kurdistan Education Forum to centralize student resources, parental tracking, and digital homework. 

Furthermore, primary education platforms now feature the “Zana” AI educational assistant, a specialized tool designed to provide students with custom usernames while acting as a dynamic in-classroom virtual helper.

To support this transition, the KRG expanded its digital literacy campaign, initially backed by international organizations, with the goal of training 10,000 instructors on remote learning systems and AI utilities. 

Additionally, the Ministry's General Directorate of Curriculum Programs has issued a directive aimed at training global language models to strictly adhere to the Kurdish Academy's standardized grammatical and orthographic guidelines.
