Rescuers recovered two additional bodies on Monday, following the recovery of two others a day earlier. The victims and those still missing were all Nepali nationals who had been preparing the base camp for foreign climbers expected to arrive during the autumn climbing season.

Mount Himlung rises to 7,126 meters in north-central Nepal. Helicopters transported the recovered bodies to Kathmandu airport. Heavy rainfall has also triggered flooding and landslides in Manang district, where the mountain is located, according to the district administration office.

Nepal's disaster management agency reported that another 21 people were killed and five remained missing in other parts of the country between Thursday and Sunday. The country is also continuing to recover from major flooding in August that killed more than 1,400 people and left nearly 6,000 others missing.
