The Iraqi Minister of Migration and Displacement Evan Fayaq filed a complaint against Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, and Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed in the Federal Court.

The complaint aims to enforce a decision of the Iraqi Council of Ministers concerning the return of refugees.

The complainant said that the deadline for closing all camps is June 30, 2024, and a committee led by a representative from the Iraqi Ministry of Migration, alongside representatives from the Iraqi Ministries of Health and Education, as well as the KRG, has been established for this purpose.

The Federal Court has scheduled a hearing on the complaint for March 31.

Previously, Fayaq accused the KRG Interior Ministry of obstructing the return of refugees from Erbil and Duhok to their homes.

Tazade camp in the Garmian Administration was closed last week, and the closure of Ashti camp in Sulaymaniyah’s Arbat is scheduled for the near future.
