Iranian, Iraqi border commanders meet to enhance security for Arbaeen pilgrims

Iranian border police commander Brigadier General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi and Iraqi Border Guard commander General Mohammad Abdul Wahab convened on Monday to streamline the visit of Iranian pilgrims to Iraq for Arbaeen.

The meeting took place at the Khosravi border crossing in Qasr-e Shirin, Kermanshah, near the Iraq border.

During the discussions, General Goudarzi emphasized the need for enhanced joint border patrols to combat goods smuggling effectively.

He highlighted the critical importance of addressing arms smuggling, stressing the necessity for a firm stance against smugglers, particularly those trafficking weapons and alcoholic beverages.

He also underscored the importance of bilateral cooperation in intelligence sharing to thwart terrorist activities.

General Abdul Wahab praised the high level of cooperation and interaction with the Iranian border guard, emphasizing that this strong brotherhood would further enhance collaboration and improve border security.
