Turkish army has advanced over 50 kilometers into KRI, Sidakan mayor confirms

Ihsan Chalabi, the Mayor of Sidakan district, informed Channel8 that the Turkish army has advanced over 50 kilometers into Kurdistan Region territory.

He clarified that there is no PKK headquarters within their border.

As a result of the Turkish incursion, most villages around Sidakan have been evacuated. Chalabi mentioned that the high committee has decided to permit those engaged in beekeeping, agriculture, and livestock to continue their work in the deserts of Sidakan and areas beyond the Peshmerga checkpoints.

He added that this year, unlike previous years, they will issue identity cards to individuals visiting locations outside the Peshmerga checkpoints.

He reiterated that the Turkish military presence extends more than 50 kilometers long and 30 kilometers deep within the Kurdistan Region in Sidakan, emphasizing that there is no PKK headquarters in the area.
