France is intensifying its diplomatic efforts to mediate a resolution between Turkey and the Kurds in northeastern Syria, advocating for Kurdish participation in any political transition.

French President Emmanuel Macron highlighted this position in a recent discussion with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot confirmed ongoing negotiations aimed at achieving a balanced agreement that benefits all parties, though he withheld specific details about the talks. The French government considers Kurdish involvement essential to shaping Syria’s future political framework.

President Macron reiterated this stance during his conversation with Erdogan on Wednesday, emphasizing France’s commitment to ensuring the Kurds play a central role in the region’s political evolution.
