Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on Wednesday that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will make reciprocal visits in 2025 to mark the 80th anniversaries of significant World War II events.

Xi Jinping's Visit to Moscow

President Xi Jinping has accepted an invitation to attend Victory Day celebrations in Moscow on May 9, 2025, commemorating the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany. This event is a major national holiday in Russia, featuring a large military parade on Red Square. 

Vladimir Putin's Visit to China

In return, President Vladimir Putin will visit China in late August or early September 2025 to participate in events marking the 80th anniversary of Japan's defeat, which signifies the end of World War II in Asia. 

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

These planned visits underscore the deepening alliance between Russia and China, especially amid ongoing global geopolitical tensions. Both nations have expressed a commitment to commemorating their shared history and reinforcing their strategic partnership.
