Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has ordered the formation of a security team to track down those responsible for "committing disgraceful acts of violence" against several Syrian workers in Iraq, his office said in a statement on Tuesday.

The move comes after a video circulating on social media showed a masked group identifying themselves as “Ya Ali Popular Formations” assaulting Syrian workers.

“Al-Sudani immediately directed the formation of a specialized security team to pursue those responsible for these illegal acts, which have nothing to do with Iraqi morals,” government spokesman Sabah al-Numan said.

The statement strongly condemned the attacks, describing them as violations of "all human and moral values" and "a breach of human dignity and rights."

Al-Numan emphasized that “the law will be fully enforced without leniency or discrimination” against anyone found responsible for the assaults.
