Syrian Committee to Meet Mazloum Abdi Next Wednesday to Oversee SDF-Syrian Agreement, Channel8 Reports

The Syrian presidency has formed a five-member committee to implement the agreement between SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi and Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

According to Channel8, the committee will meet with Mazloum Abdi next Wednesday in al-Hasakah to oversee the implementation of the agreement.

Channel8 also reported that after the meeting with Mazloum Abdi, a special committee will be formed to address economic, political, and military issues.

On March 10, Abdi and al-Sharaa signed an eight-point agreement, which includes a declaration of a ceasefire throughout Syria.

According to the agreement, the points must be implemented by special committees by the end of this year.

The points of the agreement are as follows:

  • Guaranteeing the right of Syrians to participate in the political process
  • “The Kurds are an integral community in Syria, with their rights guaranteed”
  • Declaration of a ceasefire throughout Syria
  • Integration of civilian and military institutions
  • Guaranteeing the return of Syrian displaced people
  • Supporting the Syrian state from any threat
  • Rejecting divisive calls and hate speech
  • Implementation of the agreement before the end of this year
