KRG Interior Minister Denies Presence of Terrorist Groups in the Region
During a panel discussion at the 8th Sulaimani Forum, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Interior Minister Rebar Ahmad dismissed the notion of terrorist groups operating in the Kurdistan Region.
"The armed opposition groups of Turkey and Iran in the Kurdistan Region are not terrorists," Ahmad stated.
He emphasized that "According to the Iraqi constitution, there is no central government, and according to the constitution, Iraq is a federal government."
The 8th Sulaimani Forum, sponsored by Channel8, takes place at the American University (AUIS) in Sulaimani.
Themed “Middle East Conflicts,” the forum will bring together key figures and influencers from Kurdistan, Iraq, the Middle East, Europe, and the United States to engage in discussions on political, economic, and environmental issues.
A primary focus of the event will be climate change and water scarcity, exploring strategies to address these challenges while underscoring the importance of cross-border environmental protection efforts.
Distinguished ministers and high-ranking officials from Iraq and the Kurdistan Region will lead panels on political, economic, and environmental matters, joined by a cohort of international experts and academics.
Established in 2013, the Sulaimani Forum has evolved into a significant political gathering within Iraq and the broader region. Serving as a nexus for dialogue and deliberation, the event has fostered engagement among global leaders, marking a milestone as one of Iraq’s premier political assemblies attracting politicians, scholars, activists, and journalists from around the world.
