The Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) of Rojava has announced the postponement of municipal elections in the region.

The elections, originally scheduled for June 11, have now been moved to August following requests from multiple participating parties and lists.

 In a statement, the commission revealed that the Syrian Democratic Council, the Coalition of Peoples and Women for Freedom, the Together List for Better Services, and the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party were among those who sought the delay.

This marks the second time that local elections in northern and eastern Syria have been postponed.
