KRG Deputy PM Condemns Drone Attack that Killed Two Journalists, Calls for International Action

Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG), has strongly condemned the recent drone attack near the Said Sadiq district that claimed the lives of two female journalists.
He emphasized that the victims were not members of any armed force, and thus posed no threat to the security or stability of any country or region.
Talabani denounced the killings as an "unjustifiable crime" that violates all international laws and customs.
He called the incident a "flagrant violation of Iraqi sovereignty" and urged both the federal government and the international community to take decisive action to stop such violations, which have increasingly endangered civilian lives in the Kurdistan Region.
A Turkish drone strike on Friday targeted a vehicle in Sulaymaniyah’s Said Sadiq, killing “three members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK)”, according to a statement from Kurdistan’s counter-terrorism service.
The strike occurred near the northern city of Sulaymaniyah and resulted in “the deaths of a senior PKK member, his driver, and a guard,” according to the statement
Meanwhile, for the same incident, a Channel8 reporter revealed that the vehicle struck in the Said Sadiq area was carrying a journalist from Sterk TV.
The reporter, speaking from the forensic department in Sulaymaniyah, confirmed that two female journalists were killed in the bombing.
Those killed were identified as Nigar, a 40-year-old journalist, and Hero, a 27-year-old video editor. Their bodies were transferred to the forensic medical examination in Sulaymaniyah.
Additionally, Rebin Bakr, a 30-year-old head of social media for the channel, sustained injuries in the bombing and was hospitalized in Sulaymaniyah for treatment.
Turkey frequently conducts airstrikes against PKK militants in northern Iraq and maintains several outposts within Iraqi territory. The PKK has been engaged in an armed struggle against the Turkish state since 1984.
