The Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI) announced it conducted drone strikes on "vital" Israeli sites in the Golan Heights and Eilat, in a move they describe as solidarity with Palestinian and Lebanese populations and as a response to "massacres" against civilians.

According to a statement from IRI, their fighters targeted two strategic locations in the Golan Heights and an additional site in Umm Rashrash (Eilat).

The statement underscored that these attacks were "in support of our people in Palestine and Lebanon," denouncing what it called "massacres committed by the usurping entity against innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly."

The group reiterated its commitment to intensify operations against “enemy” positions, pledging that these strikes would escalate "at an increasing pace."

In response, the Israeli military confirmed that its air force intercepted a drone launched from the east, which it suspects originated from armed groups in Iraq. According to a report by the Times of Israel, the Israeli military stated that the drone did not enter Israeli airspace.

The IRI has carried out almost daily rocket and drone attacks on Israeli targets amid ongoing hostilities involving Gaza and Lebanon. Since April, Israel has reported multiple aerial incursions from its eastern border but has not attributed responsibility to a specific group. It has also intercepted drones outside its airspace on several occasions.
