Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed S. Al-Sudani visited the headquarters of the Border Forces Command in Baghdad.

According to Media Office of the Prime Minister, during the visit, PM Al-Sudani laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial Wall and recited Al-Fatiha in honor of the heroic martyrs of the Border Forces.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the activities, missions, and responsibilities of the Border Guard Forces, as well as the advancements achieved over the past two years. The briefing included a detailed overview of the security situation and the implementation of plans to combat remnants of ISIS terrorist cells, organized crime, and drug trafficking while addressing security challenges.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces praised the operational and administrative performance of the Border Forces, noting significant progress in staffing outposts, installing towers, cameras, and barriers compared to previous years. He described this as a notable achievement in addressing diverse security challenges.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces highlighted that the Council of Ministers has provided all necessary resources to secure and maintain borders, especially given the complex regional security environment and the repercussions of the ongoing Zionist aggression against Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria and Zionist agendas to expand the aggression, which constitutes one of the major threats to Iraq’s security and stability.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani instructed officers and commanders to prioritize the welfare of personnel, ensure fair distribution of duties, and implement regular rotation of forces to sustain optimal mission performance. He also directed the relevant authorities to equip the Border Forces with modern weapons and continue efforts to secure all borders, combat drug trafficking, cross-border crimes, and any violations undermining Iraq’s sovereignty and security.
